August - 3:00 p.m. - Chapter Picnic September 18, 2023- 12:00 p.m. - Constitution Day Ceremony at Capitol Rotunda November 11, 2023 - 11:00 a.m. Veterans Day Parade Main Street, East Helena, MT Veterans Center Desserts - Monthly 1301 Elm St., Suite C, Helena, MT Oro Fino Chapter members deliver desserts to the local veterans center between the 1st and 10th of each month. ![]() Chapter Meetings: The Oro Fino Chapter meets on the 2nd Saturday ~ September through May at 9:30am. Most meetings consist of Chapter business and then an educational and historical program at the end. We support and sponsor the following: Education: DAR Good Citizens Award, American History and NSDAR Helen Pouch Community Classroom Grant, as well as various scholarships to High School Seniors. This year we are collecting school supplies for elementary students in need. Patriotism: Naturalization Ceremony: Several times each year, Oro Fino participates in Naturalization ceremonies in Helena for new United State citizens. Constitution Week: September 17-23 annually. Click on the file for information about the September 18 ceremony in Helena, MT at the Capitol Rotunda at 12:00 noon - poster.pdf We are active in various Veteran related events as such, East Helena Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day Parades, Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day, Joining Community Forces Christmas Dinner for Military and donations throughout the year to veterans and active duty military here in Helena and throughout the world. Historic Preservation: DAR National Day of Service on October 11th to honor our founders and to service the community. On or around September 17th DAR sponsors Constitution Day at MT State Capitol Rotunda, which includes area school children rings bells and singing patriotic songs. Other annual events include, Wreaths Across America, working at the Lewis and Clark County Fair, and our Chapter’s Family Picnic in August each year. In April each year, all of the Montana Chapters meet for our State Conference, as DAR had been in Montana for 128 years (1894-2022), this event has a long standing tradition of “pomp and circumstance.” |
